A+S BioTec growing from strength to strength
After just four months of project work, our new laboratory information management system went online on 1 July 2011.
The main goal of the project was to replace the various subsystems. Whilst facilitating a separate customised tracing method for almost every single test procedure, these subsystems made it difficult to compile project-related data due to the many programs and files installed on them.
“We analyse raw materials and finished articles in accordance with 19 different test methods. And the requirements differ from one test method to the next,” is how Nadja Kussmaul sums up the situation. A quality assurance employee of many years’ standing and with responsibility for the organisation of the laboratory, Ms Kussmaul kept all the various threads together during the project: “We had to adapt a great many things, but now it’s running well.” There was a great deal involved: in a relatively short space of time, input forms had to be changed, calculation paths saved, and master article data entered; the warning and stopband strategy had to be programmed; and we had to implement our reporting system. The software we used from GRS-Software GmbH came with a powerful basic structure that we could quickly and effortlessly adapt within the team. “The new lab system really speeds up the time it takes to process our customers’ projects,” explains a delighted Michael Anders, Sales Head. “Each project needs entering just once and is immediately assigned to all respective test results. We now have powerful information at our fingertips as and when we want it, and communication has improved dramatically. Now that the certification process has been simplified, we can start offering this service to a wider audience.”
The next lab project is already on the books, with the accreditation process as per ISO 17025 starting in 2012.
